Quiet luxury brands are fashion labels that sell high-quality clothing and accessories without visible logos. The most important are The Row, Loro Piana, Brunello Cucinelli, Hermès and Max Mara; the best-value are Toteme, COS, Uniqlo and Quince.

This list covers 40 brands from 9 countries, grouped into four price tiers and scored on our Quiet Luxury Index — a 0–100 score that weights restraint (30%), materials (25%), craft (20%), longevity (15%) and value (10%). 9 of the 40 are Italian, which says a great deal about where the world’s best cloth is still woven. The oldest, John Smedley, was founded in 1784.

Every brand links to a full profile and to a “brands like” page with cheaper alternatives. Americans search Google for quiet luxury brands about 4,400 times a month (September 2026), so we keep this list updated as brands change hands, prices or direction.

How we chose these brands

A brand earns a place by meeting three tests: it does not rely on visible logos, it uses materials that justify its price, and it designs for longevity rather than trends. We exclude brands whose current collections are logo-led even if their history is minimalist — Celine is included with a low restraint score precisely to explain why. Scores are editorial judgements based on materials, construction, brand history and owner reports; we explain the method in full on the Index page.

How to choose a quiet luxury brand

Start with the category you wear most. If you live in knitwear, the difference between a $50 and a $1,500 cashmere sweater is real and visible within a year, so that is where to spend. If you need a coat, a single great one from Max Mara or Toteme will outlast several cheaper ones. For bags, the logo-free options run from Polène at a few hundred dollars to Hermès.

Browse by category: knitwear, outerwear, tailoring, bags, shoes and basics.
